Why Deka Batteries?

H.H. Tire & Battery chooses to market the Deka line of batteries to our Virgin Island customers because these batteries provide the ultimate combination of quality performance and price.

The Seamate and Intimidator series offer dual purpose capabilities for crisp engine starting and long deep discharge typical of Marine and RV applications, while the power sports range are designed specifically for high performance starting applications in smaller recreational vehicles including motorcycles, quad bikes and jet skis.

Deka Batteries are Manufactured in the U.S.A with the highest quality workmanship and materials.

Automotive Batteries

Automotive Batteries: Car Batteries and Light Trucks & Vans Deka's complete line of lead-acid batteries are ideal for passenger cars, light trucks, and vans are made in the U.S.A. of the highest quality workmanship and materials. We carry sizes and capacities for virtually any vehicle and vintage. Our most popular sizes are made with state-of-the-art calcium maintenance-free lead alloys for the lowest gassing rates, longest life and highest performance.

Marine Batteries

No matter what the application...no matter what the power demand...Deka has the correct marine battery for the rigorous demands typical of marine service. For pounding vibration due to heavy seas, long cranking due to stubborn engine starting, heavy house power and auxiliary loads, long hours and days of trolling without recharge, and even super-heavy demands of luxury yachts and commercial vessels...Deka DELIVERS.

Commercial Batteries

Deka Heavy Duty Commercial batteries are designed with special features to extend life and guarantee reliability for the demands typical of heavy-duty commercial equipment. Pounding vibration, frequent starts, long idle periods and weather extremes are no match for a Deka! Made in the U.S.A.

Auto Battery Care

Automotive batteries have a finite life span. Undercharging, overcharging and heat all team up to degrade your battery. Poor electrical connections make it more difficult for even a good battery to do its job.

Start any battery maintenance program by checking open-cell voltage, either with a dedicated battery tester or a voltmeter. With the battery fully charged and all electrical drains-dome light, warning buzzer, etc.-shut down, the voltage across the terminals should be 12.5 to 12.6 volts

Clean corrosion from the battery

The battery should be cleaned using a baking soda and water solution; a couple of table spoons to a pint of water. Cable connections need to be cleaned and tightened as battery problems are often caused by dirty and loose connections.
A serviceable battery needs to have the fluid level checked. Use only mineral free water, Distilled is best as all impurities have been removed, and there is nothing left that could contaminate your cells. Don't overfill battery cells especially in warmer weather because the natural fluid expansion in hot weather can push excess electrolytes from the battery.

To prevent corrosion of cables on top post batteries use a small bead of silicone sealer at the base of the post and place a felt battery washer over it. Coat the washer with high temperature grease or petroleum jelly (Vaseline), then place cable on the post and tighten. Coat the exposed cable end with the grease. Most people don't know that just the gases from the battery condensing on metal parts cause most corrosion.
